This is the Mid Island Weavers and Spinners (and other fibre enthusiasts) blog page. The group meets the first Wednesday of the month during the fall/winter/spring (September through to June). Meetings are now being held at the library downtown on Commercial St upstairs in their meeting room. Guests are welcome to come...bring your knitting, spinning wheel or other fibre addictions. Meetings usually consist of 5 minutes of business, show and tell (bring something), tea and cookies, and some sort of workshop, seminar or talk where you will learn something fibry and interesting.

MIWSGuild May 6th 2015

Minutes of the AGM for the MIWS Guild May 6th 2015
There were eight people present in our new location. Crystal presented her treasurers report and it was accepted as written.

Jeannette Brooks moved that our fiscal year should coincide with the calendar year. Jan 31st – December 31st.Dues, due January 2016. We would hold the AGM in November. This year would be a grace period only until January 2016. Anne Fiddick seconded the motion and all were in favour.

So you membership is payable in January of 2016.

We had a report on the Fibre exchange and made a profit of $493.90. Debbie moved that we move to accept the report.

Old Business

In September bring slippers or socks for thew Tread Lightly conference in 2017. Do them in the colours that Pat Zogar gave us information on. Autumn is going to make the steps.

Alison Irwin hasn’t figured out about the paper weaving for the conference yet.
Jeanette Brooks was taking a cedar tree down and lead by Debbie people went to get strips of cedar bark for basket weaving. Debbie is going to do a cedar weaving basketry class. Talked about the Tzouhalem guild Sheep to shawl.

Save Country Grocer receipts-Couldn’t remember why?

There were some metal heddles left over from Eva's loom. Betty has them-should they go to Gabriola since they have the loom they fit on?
