Mid Island Weavers and Spinners (and other fibre enthusiasts) Guild

This is the Mid Island Weavers and Spinners (and other fibre enthusiasts) blog page. The group meets the first Wednesday of the month during the fall/winter/spring (September through to June). Meetings are now being held at the library downtown on Commercial St upstairs in their meeting room. Guests are welcome to come...bring your knitting, spinning wheel or other fibre addictions. Meetings usually consist of 5 minutes of business, show and tell (bring something), tea and cookies, and some sort of workshop, seminar or talk where you will learn something fibry and interesting.

Welcome New Member: Sharon Alexander
Waiting to hear from St Pauls with regards to a storage cupboard for the library. Linda is also checking with Country Grocer to see if they might have a meeting space available. Jeannette checked with the downtown Nanaimo Library but they do not book meetings on a yearly basis, Wednesday evenings were not available, and with no storage options it was decided to stay at St Pauls for now.
Kathy has paid our ANWG membership for 2017 (27.58 cdn)
Margo brought in some literature from Plan International with information about adopting a sheep to support their organization. Those who want to do so, please check out the website for more information.
Amended: I have now read the minutes and I want a correction.
The idea of buying a sheep, was for the GUILD to buy a sheep or two for a needy family through Plan International.
Guild members on their own could also by sheep if they wanted to support a family in need.
NOT as quoted in the minutes the donation “supported their organisation”. of course some  of the donation will go to help promotion.
 Margo

Old Business: it was decided to keep the current Mid Island Weavers and Spinners Guild name rather than change it to Nanaimo Weavers and Spinners Guild.
