Mid Island Weavers and Spinners (and other fibre enthusiasts) Guild

This is the Mid Island Weavers and Spinners (and other fibre enthusiasts) blog page. The group meets the first Wednesday of the month during the fall/winter/spring (September through to June). Meetings are now being held at the library downtown on Commercial St upstairs in their meeting room. Guests are welcome to come...bring your knitting, spinning wheel or other fibre addictions. Meetings usually consist of 5 minutes of business, show and tell (bring something), tea and cookies, and some sort of workshop, seminar or talk where you will learn something fibry and interesting.
We now have an email address: MIWSGuild at gmail.com

Up coming Bias Basket Weave Workshop

Alison Irwin

Paper Bias Weave Baskets Workshop

I'll try to get the pictures to send later.

The class is Sunday March 8th from 10-4 (daylight savings changes the night before) at the Country Grocer( meeting room upstairs) on Bowen Road

Cost $20 plus $10 for the materials. Please sign up soon and Tell Lynn tonight or let me know by email by this weekend. Minimum 8 participants and ,maximum 10.

We will be making Bias weave baskets made from scrapbooking paper that is run through a paper shredder, and they're just a little larger than a business card. We will design different colour and weave patterns for these baskets. Possibly putting beads on one.

Each student should come with paper scissors, a fine tapestry needle (size 28), and a small metal nail file
Students will need to bring pencil crayons, 1/4" graph paper, and a pencil & eraser.

We are doing this so we will have the knowledge to be able to help the Tzouhalem Guild with a project for the upcoming conference in Victoria in 2017.
