Discussion on The library-which we currently don’t have a location for so we are not renewing Handwoven as we can get DVD's of a year later on sale for our library.

Books that weren’t bought that we decided not to keep were taken to the Sally Anne.

Old Business Autumn is going to make the steps for our booth for the

and Jeannette Roberts suggested we start producing things for it in the colours of the conference and then we decide what to put in the display.

We had a discussion on the Workshop on Coast Salish knitting and Liz was to contact the book publisher & organize the Coast Salish Knitting workshop for either May or in the fall

Jeanette Roberts talked about the Steven Lewis Foundation Grandmothers group that make items to sell for the Grandmothers that are bring up grandchildren because their parents have died of Aids.

Betty moved that we have a speaker and Liz seconded it. I think this was to do with the Steven Lewis Foundation But not sure?

Lynn adjourned the meeting and maybe the Betty moved we adjourn and Liz seconded it?

The Magmatic Boom was the shawl Jennifer was wearing.  It is a variation of the Magmatic Shawl Joyce brought in in the fall, both designed by Laura Nelkin.

Okanogan Valley Fibre Festival

Good Morning Fiber Enthusiasts!

Spring has arrived, lambs, crias and kids are being born daily, and we are exactly 2 months away from the Okanogan Valley Fiber Festival.  It's a very busy time of year, but we hope that you will take some time out to come and visit us at the Agriplex on May 30-31, and experience the beautiful Okanogan Valley in all it's springtime glory.

This is just a reminder that we still have some spaces left in our workshops, and if you sign up before the end of April, you can take advantage of the early bird discount.  Also, we now have all the details on the fleece grading and sorting up on our web site.  We are particularly excited about this part of our event, as it is the first time that we know of that a regional sort (fleece sorting and grading) has been done in a fiber festival setting.  This is an opportunity for anyone who raises fiber animals (sheep, alpaca, goat or rabbit) to have their fleeces professionally evaluated, with the opportunity to sell them on site.  In order to be as efficient as possible, we are require pre-registration for fleeces to guarantee evaluation.  Last minute fleeces will only be done if there is time.  All the information is on our web site: www.okfiberfest.org.

Workshop June 6 and 7

Extreme Warp Makeover

Hate to warp but love to weave? Want more versatility from a single warp? This is the workshop for you. You will warp your own loom with a 2/8 cotton and your choice of one of three four-shaft threading. You will perform an extreme makeover and weave it many different ways… from twill, lace, overshot to swivel, corduroy, deflected weft, and double-faced. At the same time, you will be presented with the basics of different structures and taught how to adapt a single threading to weave a number of different weaves, including concepts such as star vs. rose fashion, weaving on opposites, and echo treadling. Four shaft looms required. Not a round-robin workshop. Beginner to Advance

1. Taming of the Hue – Techniques for the color challenged

Does incorporating more color into your projects appeal to you, but leaves you feeling a little intimidated at the same time? Do you long to break out of a color rut? If so, you are not alone! In this seminar, a variety of tools and techniques will be covered to assist you in exploring different ways of incorporating color into your projects and give you more confidence in discovering new color horizons. Tentative time 10:00-12:00

2. One Shuttle Wonders

Do you enjoy the ease and simplicity of weaving with one shuttle? Are you looking for some new ideas and patterns? From four shafts to sixteen or more, there are many ways to weave fabulous fabrics that only require a single shuttle. Tentative time. 1:00-2:30

3. Weaving TNT: Dynamite Tips n Techniques for Every Weaver

Would you like to learn a great method for repairing a broken warp end, tracking your treadling while you weave, making your own repair heddles, or just make weaving easier and more pleasurable? This “prop-riddled” seminar looks and feels like an interactive show-and-tell and will introduce over 36 offbeat tools, techniques, or tricks to assist weavers in all phases of weaving. Tentative time 3:00-4:30

Intermediate to Advanced Weavers

4. There are Two Sides to Every Cloth

All cloth has two sides, so why not make them as distinct and interesting as possible, even completely different? On as few as three shafts, it’s possible to weave versatile fabric that possesses a completely different appearance on each side. This round-robin style workshop will be adapted and offered as a seminar. You will be presented with numerous ways to achieve cloth with two different sides, including double-faced twills, double faced overshot, and stitched double cloth. Tentative time 6:30-8:30
